The LA Rams are 4-2 and hosting the 5-1 Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. A win not only ties the Bears with a head-to-head tiebreaker in the NFC wild card but would also bring the Rams into a tie for most wins in the division. That is thanks to the Arizona Cardinals beating the Seattle Seahawks 37-34 in overtime on Sunday night. The Seahawks drop to 5-1, meaning a win by Los Angeles on Monday gets them to 5-2 and within a half game of first place. However, the Cardinals also improved to 5-2, meaning they’re already where the Rams want to be in 24 hours. The competition is as tight as expected in the NFC West heading into the final game of Week 7. Kyler Murray went 34 of 48 with 360 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, adding in 67 rushing yards and another score on the ground. His favorite target, as usual, was DeAndre Hopkins, who had 10 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. With Kenyan Drake ailing during the game, backup running back Chase Edmonds had five carries for 58 yards and seven catches for 87 yards. The Cardinals trailed 20-7 in the first half and 34-24 with under seven minutes remaining in the game, taking their first lead in the final seconds of overtime on Zane Gonzalez’s game-winning 48-yard kick. Arizona enters the bye at 5-2 and spends the next two games at home: vs the Miami Dolphins and vs the Buffalo Bills. The Rams play the Cardinals in Week 13. Seattle was coming out of the bye week at 5-0 and as the last remaining undefeated team in the NFC but as noted could not hold Arizona at bay due to several mistakes at critical times in the game. Tyler Lockett did finish with 15 catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns. The Seahawks are now 5-1 and next host the San Francisco 49ers team that is hot again. A week after beating the Rams 24-16, the 49ers went into Foxboro and beat the New England Patriots 33-6. It could be that the Patriots are as bad as the Jets but it’s crystal clear at this point that San Francisco is not. Though Jimmy Garoppolo had two interceptions and no touchdowns, running back Jeff Wilson had 112 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 carries and rookie Brandon Aiyuk caught six passes for 115 yards. The Niners intercepted four passes, three by Cam Newton and one by Jarrett Stidham, resembling the defense that they had a year ago. San Francisco is now 4-3 and a loss by Los Angeles would drop them into last place in the division. The NFC West is so competitive that the Rams are playing to either tie for the most wins or fall into last place depending on the outcome Monday night. A tie would put LA at 4-2-1 and technically keep them in third, but that’s probably not going to be a goal.
